To configure SMTP e-mail for a Web application

1. Click 'Start' -> 'Administrative Tools' -> 'Server Manager'
2. Click on 'Features'
3. Click on 'Add Features'
4. Double-click SMTP Server.
5. Click 'Add Required Role Services'
6. Click 'Next' twice then click 'Install'.
7. After installation go to 'Start' -> 'Administrative Tools' -> 'Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager'
8. Double click on your COMPUTERNAME
9. Right click on 'SMTP Virtual Server' and go to Properties
10. Click the 'Access' tab
11. Click 'Relay'
12. Add 127.0.0.1 and any IPs assigned to this machine that you want to be able to send emails through from scripts on your server.
