Migrating From Shared Hosting

Written by: on 02 May 2012 05:52 PM 02 May 2012 05:52 PM

VPSBlocks can manage your migration for you. Then you should know how to migrate from Shared Hosting.

If you wish, VPSBlocks can manage your migration for you (option during the order process).

Upgrading from shared hosting to a VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a worthwhile undertaking. Unlike shared hosting, your website will no longer have to compete with other websites for resources, and it will no longer be vulnerable to google or email blacklists due to bad activity by other websites!

Managing your own VPS puts you in control. What this does mean though, is that you have the added responsibility of ensuring the server is set up and secured appropriately, with all the services needed to run your website (or you can have us do this for you).

For beginners, it is recommended that you opt for CentOS with CPanel during the order process. CentOS is a widely used operating system based on the Linux platform, perfect for static websites or websites that make use of PHP and MySQL. CPanel is a control panel that comes with all standard web hosting features installed and provides you an interface to manage your website. A must if you have no exprience managing web servers!

If however, your website has .aspx files or was developed using dot net, it will require a Windows operating system. In this case, please choose the latest version of our Windows options.
