Enabling mod_deflate / gzip compression

Written by: on 29 May 2019 10:04 AM 29 May 2019 10:04 AM

On your cPanel server mod_deflate is installed by default in Apache, however, you need to enable it on each site you want to run it.

It can greatly improve performance particularly from overseas locations as it compresses all data before it leaves the server (meaning less data transfer and thus faster website loading).

To do enable it login first login to your cPanel account. If you are unsure of your cPanel account details, you can access it through WHM by logging into WHM and going to 'List Accounts', then clicking the cP Icon next to the cPanel account / website in question.

Once logged into cPanel find 'Optimize Website'

Then choose 'Compress All Content' and click 'Update Settings'
